NHS Lanarkshire A&E Experiences ‘Worst Performance in Months’

Despite NHS Lanarkshire finally moving out of the highest risk ‘code-black’ status in March, it has now recorded its worst A&E performance since the beginning of January.

Monica has responded to new figures which show that only 51.8% of emergency patients across NHS Lanarkshire were seen within the recommended 4-hour time frame.

She said:

“The new figures confirm that this ongoing NHS crisis is far from being over and it is NHS Lanarkshire that continues to bear the brunt of it with some of the worst performance statistics in the country.

“It is unacceptable that in just one week alone, thousands of patients at Lanarkshire hospitals waited over 8 hours to be seen, many waited over 12.

“Workers across NHS Lanarkshire have been forced to trudge along in code-black status for the best part of two years.

“This cannot go on; many NHS workers have already left their positions due to the increasing stress and dangers they have faced at work.”
