Monica Visits East Kilbride Engineering Experts Clansman Dynamics

Monica was welcomed to the employee-owned engineering manufacturing firm Clansman Dynamics  afternoon to see the various ground-breaking engineering machines and meet the Managing Director, Andrew Allan.

The East Kilbride-based firm is a Scottish success story, being only one of two firms worldwide that specialise in manufacturing their line of products, specialising in producing custom-designed forge and foundry equipment such as Forge Robots.

The Central Scotland MSP, who is currently a member of the Net Zero Committee at the Scottish Parliament had the opportunity to learn more about some of their world-leading projects.

Monica commented:

“Thank you to Andrew for taking me on a brilliant tour of the factory. It is exciting to see first-hand the success of an employee-owned firm right here in East Kilbride who are leading the way for other entrepreneurs in the world of engineering.

“However, it was insightful to also speak to Andrew about the increased operating difficulties Clansman Dynamics have faced due to Brexit and recruiting skilled workers.

“Seeing the benefits and opportunity that comes with employee ownership has also reaffirmed to me the importance of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs across Scotland to expand worker autonomy.

“If the Scottish Government wants to ensure that our economy is world leading in areas such as manufacturing, we need to ensure that more businesses can transfer to a co-operative set-up and thrive just like Clansman Dynamics has, as well as properly investing in STEM education and skills to ensure that more world-leading firms like Clansman Dynamics can thrive in Scotland.”
