Monica Urges Government Minister to Address Delay in Opening of Pregnancy Loss Facilities

Monica wrote formally to the Scottish Government Minister for Women’s Health urging her to speed up plans to implement specialised miscarriage facilities in Lanarkshire.

East Kilbride campaigner Louise Caldwell has been campaigning on this issue for over three years after delivering her stillborn baby in a labour ward.

Monica commented:

“Louise has worked tirelessly and selflessly over the past three years by retelling her story and bringing awareness to the reality that so many women experiencing miscarriage tragically have to deliver their baby in labour wards surrounded by new families.

“It is thanks to Louise’s impressive campaign that the Scottish Government and NHS Lanarkshire are on board with this issue, but the campaign is far from over.

“I urge the Women’s Health Minister to meet with Louise to hear her experience first-hand and work collaboratively to ensure that no woman in Scotland has to experience this again.”
