Local Community Comes Together For Successful Clothes Swap Event

Monica was delighted to attend the Parkville’s vibrant and eco-conscious ‘Big Swish ‘ clothes swap event on Sunday 21 April.

The event saw a fantastic turnout from the community, with attendees bringing in their unwanted new and nearly new clothing and accessories to exchange for new garments.

Over 1,000 items found new homes on the day, with an additional 2,500 items being donated to benefit three different charities. This generous act not only helped reduce waste but also contributed to a significant reduction in carbon emissions. By extending the lifespan of garments, the event helped save approximately 12.5 tonnes of CO2.

Attendees not only contributed by swapping items but also generously donated over £520 for Chris’s House, a remarkable charity dedicated to supporting those affected by mental health issues.

R:evolve Recycle played a pivotal role in the event’s success, providing invaluable assistance in organising and facilitating the event. Their contributions, along with the volunteers and the hosts Lisini Pub Company Green Team, made for a great afternoon.

Monica said “I was thrilled by the enthusiasm from the community for the ‘Big Swish’. I found some lovely pieces – not only did I refresh my wardrobe, but I also contributed to a greener, more sustainable future. Congratulations to Lisini Pub Company, R:evolve Recycle and all the volunteers. It really was heart-warming to see everyone come together for a common cause of sustainability and raise funds for Chris’s House.”
